Child Safety

Age requirements and safeguarding expectations.

Draft for review · Updated 2 November 2026. Operator details and operational commitments require confirmation before adoption. This is not legal advice.

Age requirements

No one under 13 may hold an account. Members aged 13–17 need parental or guardian consent and age-appropriate protection. This is the community policy; the sign-up form checks date of birth and terms agreement, but is not verified age assurance. Ages 13–17 cannot register through that form until parental consent has been verified by support. Social-provider sign-in can still create an account without this form, so comprehensive server-enforced age assurance remains unfinished. Parents should supervise use and avoid public disclosure of a child’s contact details, school or location.

Zero tolerance for exploitation

Sexual content involving minors, grooming, exploitation, coercion and attempts to obtain sexual material from a child are never allowed. Accounts associated with such conduct should be restricted and concerns referred to the appropriate authorities, preserving evidence only where safe and lawful.

Do not download, copy or forward suspected child sexual abuse material. Report a URL to the Internet Watch Foundation at iwf.org.uk and grooming concerns through CEOP at ceop.police.uk. Call 999 if someone is in immediate danger.

Raising a concern

Email hello@yourstoryyourway.co.uk with the account or content link and a description, without attaching illegal material. Report and block options are available on stored member content. A parent can contact support about an underage account or consent concern; this does not substitute for an implemented safeguarding and verification process.
